Vi here. Hello everyone. I have a background in education & enjoyed many years of teaching primary grades. One of my passions is playing with my dogs especially in Agility. I have been involved in the dog sport of Agility going onto 20 years now.
My 'Star dog', Sophie competed at Regional & National level Agility events. Presently, I have 2 wonderful, Nova Scotia Duck Toller Retrievers, Sophie & Gemma. They help out at times with a little demo lesson, or stand in as my Teaching Assistants during classes. You'll hear more about Sophie & Gemma soon.
I found that making a game of things made learning much more interesting for the children I taught. So playing games with my own dogs was a natural progression. It's exciting to watch the enthusiasm & learning fun, my dogs have when playing games.
The games help to develop skills & concepts such as confidence, optimism, focus, self control, reliability, recall, calmness & polite leash manners. Furthermore the games way of training can be adapted to fit every dog's personality & helps in relationship building.
I feel that dogs are such special entities with their own unique personalities. When you truly bond with a dog(s) you have a connection of trust & unconditional love. It touches you to your inner core. I want everyone to have that kind of relationship with their dog.
